FACILITIES MAINTENANCE WORKER (Two Openings) We are looking for two Facilities Maintenance Workers to join our Maintenance team who under general supervision, will perform a variety of maintenance and repair work in the upkeep of agency facilities and grounds. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities are as follows: Assists in the installation of new structures, and repair and maintenance of existing facilities; sets up tools and materials and cleans up on completion of work. Performs general landscape maintenance and clean up including brush removal, pruning trees and shrubs, mowing and edging, weed removal, digging, planting, watering and repairing sprinklers; picks up trash and empties trash receptacles. Excavates, builds forms for and pours concrete pads/slabs; finishes concrete; assembles and installs bus shelters; prepares and paints curbs, shelters and other agency facilities; removes graffiti. Operates hand tools, power tools, and light to heavy vehicles used in construction and maintenance work. Assists with hazardous material clean up. Maintains records of work performed. Occasional operation of a man lift, scissor lift and forklift after training. This position reports to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $20.82 - $30.00 per hour. The salary upon hire is $20.82 per hour and will increase to $22.19 after six months of satisfactory performance. Benefits: Full-time employees receive a generous benefits package including subsidized medical insurance and fully paid dental insurance for employee and dependents, as well as short-term disability insurance and life insurance. This position participates in the Washington State Public Employees’ Retirement Plan with the option of participating in a state administered deferred compensation plan. Employees receive a generous general leave accrual and 11 holidays for which pay is pro-rated based on the number of hours worked per pay period up to a maximum of 80 hours per pay period. Kitsap Transit also provides employees and certain dependents with a free transportation pass on Kitsap Transit buses and ferries. Hours of Work: Work is conducted between the hours of operation for Facilities Maintenance which currently is Monday – Saturday, from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm. Shifts will be assigned based on seniority and/or business needs. QUALIFICATIONS Kitsap Transit employees who wish to apply must have a satisfactory performance and attendance record. Kitsap Transit Operators with any of the following criteria in the last twelve months are excluded from recruitment opportunities: • a current Decision-Making Leave or higher in the Safety category • more than two held customer complaints • more than four unscheduled absences • more than two late reports Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED and six months of general facilities and grounds maintenance experience, with increasing demonstration of dependability and independent work. We will consider a trade school certificate in lieu of experience. You must provide a copy of your trade school certificate if you would like it to be considered in the evaluation of your candidacy. Must be 18 years of age to apply and a good driving record. Licenses and Certifications: A valid driver’s license upon hire. Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: • Regularly exposed to weather conditions and vehicle traffic. • Required to climb ladders and work over water. • Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist, reach and grasp. • Regularly required to lift and carry up to 60 pounds. • Drive vans, pickup trucks, dump trucks, flatbed trucks, trailers, front end loaders and tractors to various locations in the County.
