Esser and Odland will unveil their latest endeavor — a series of real-time spontaneous compositions for cello and piano. These Not a Sonatas draw upon Bruce and Lin's individual wealth of creative ideas as well as their enduring musical fellowship. Collaborators since 1977, these two artists and multi instrumentalists share an impressive history of creative experiences. Their first alliance was a slipper jazz group, performing on an array of ethnically diverse instruments. In the 1980's, they played in multiple punk, New Wave and avant-garde ensembles in Denver's thriving alternative music scene. After moving to New York three decades ago, Odland and Esser's individual artistic interests evolved in complementary directions and they have continued to work together on numerous projects: in film, theater, recording, and now once again in live musical performance.
