A Fabulously Frightful Fab Fifties Frolic n' Spook-tacular Swing Dance Party! We're doing a special Halloween Dance Party for our Saturday Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Shag, and Balboa parties that we hold at the end of every 6-week dance lesson series. This party will be held in the Dance Room at Slim Fitness in Newark, near the Fremont border. We have our usually unique dance lessons and rockin' '50's dance cuts, and as always, Complimentary Pizza Slices for the first 20 guests for this All Ages event (so arrive early!) There will also be an optional potluck (not "required" to join in, but always fun if you do.) If you've never swing danced before, but always wanted to try it, or if you're just looking for something that's fun, safe, and sociable to do on a Saturday that's close-by (without having to spend too much on gas!), swing on by. You can do one, or both, of the lessons, or if you already know how to swing dance, come to the party. So put on your most frightening finery n' creepiest clothing for a ghastly good time! * SPACE IS LIMITED. The schedule is below. (For beginners who have no prior experience, we recommend the 7:00 p.m. drop in East Coast Swing lesson before the dance party. Please arrive by 6:50 p.m. to check in, so that you can start on time for that lesson. We cover a lot of material.) Date: Saturday, October 29, 2022 Location: SLIM Fitness 5437 Central Avenue Suite # 3 Newark, CA 94560 Doors open at 5:45 p.m. 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Basic Whip & Sugar Push Review: The whip is the basis from which much of our Lindy Hop class curriculum is based upon. The sugar push forms the basis for our footwork variations. Familiarity with both of these fundamental basics are requirements for joining our weekly Thursday night Lindy series. We will be reviewing both moves for our regular Lindy participants, as well as letting select newbies, who have previous experience in at least East Coast Swing, sample Lindy Hop through these two moves. 7:00 p.m. to 7:55 p.m. Basic East Coast Swing Drop In Lesson This fun and relatively "easy to do" drop in lesson is perfect for first-timers who want to "try it out," while also being a review for our Tuesday evening East Coast Swing participants, before the dance party starts. 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Open Dance Party and Potluck Social dance while we spin the rockin'-est vintage rockabilly, jump-blues, and doo wop cuts that will keep you up on the floor, off the seats, and on your feet. Water will be provided, and for those who participate in the potluck, we'll eat your food!
