I will create a museum quality portrait using traditional methods based on your photographs. The art is intended for display only and not be reproduced or printed without my authorization. For the success of the portrait high quality reference is crucial. To create an accurate likeness, the features must be clearly defined. I cannot work from blurry images. The techniques I use date back to the Old Masters. A monochromatic underpainting is first developed to establish the lights and darks and give volume to the subject. After this stage is complete, transparent and semi opaque color are layered over the foundation. Each successive layer of color modifies the previous creating a smooth and luminous surface. These steps are repeated until the image glows with the colors of life. All that remains is to sign and varnish the work; with that it is ready to be packed and shipped. Once the image to be painted has been agreed upon a 50% non-refundable deposit will be required. At the completion of the work you will be sent a jpeg for approval. Once approved the final payment will be required before the artwork is to be shipped. The buyer bears s/h charges which will be based on weight, size and destination. About the artist. In 2005 I was awarded signature membership to the International Society of Acrylic Painters. I have participated in 30 group exhibitions throughout the United States, most notably at The Art Institute of Chicago in 2013. My work has been printed as greeting cards for the Heritage Collection, Carole Joy Creations and Artful Greetings, advertisements for Prato men's fashion outlet and Cricket children's magazines. I have been commissioned by the governments of Guyana and Nevis to create images for postage stamps. My works can be found in Mexico City of former Mexican ambassador Edouardo Noriega; American novelist, dramatist and poet Reynolds Price and Texas based architect R Michael Lee. At the Hamilton Landmark Gallery in NYC a private exhibit of his work was held exclusively for the ambassadors of Sweden Birijit and Kjell Anneling. commissioned a painting for his home office. From 2014-2018 I was commissioned by a former NYC hedge fund manager to create a cycle of paintings which were then exhibited in venues such as Harvard University in Cambridge Mass., HG Contemporary, The Hole Shop, and Studio Vendome in NYC. In 2020 I was invited to participate in an exhibition at the Copelouzos Family Museum in Athens Greece. The painting for that exhibition is now part of the museum's permanent collection.
