Description

WELCOME! We're so excited to launch FreeWalkers in the DC area with two excellent leaders, Katey Lazarchek and Sarah Abedin - both experienced long-distance walkers. FreeWalkers is a 501(c)(3) non profit walking group founded in NJ that leads FREE walks in many locations stretching from Boston to DC. Walk is approximately 12 miles. We will start in downtown Bethesda and make our way east, through Chevy Chase to the Audubon Woodend Sanctuary and Mansion. From there we will cross over to the Rock Creek trail system and walk thru South Kensington and climb the Mormon Temple Hill. We will rest for a bit in old town Kensington. From there we'll do a loop through Antique Row, and walk by several historic Victorian landmarks. Please pack your lunch/snacks and drinks, or you can surely buy something along the way. Bathrooms available too. We'll rejoin the Rock Creek Trail to get back to Bethesda, looping around NIH. The walk ends at Edith’s Pizza, in the Bradley Shopping Center. The group will stay together at a comfortable pace of about 3-3.5 MPH. Directions will be provided at the start. If you cannot do the whole walk, feel free to duck out if needed, however you will have to figure out how to get back to your car or train. There is always LYFT/UBER of course. Questions: Katey: 240-338-9848 / Sarah:443-745-3613 If you text the leaders be sure to say it's about the walk, please. Leave your name as well. Welcome to our DMV FREEWALKERS, Risa Olinsky, President
