I’m excited to announce that The Wetlands Initiative will be hosting a volunteer tree planting along with our partners at The Student Conservation Association (SCA), The US Forest Service - CommuniTree, Audubon Great Lakes, and Lake County Parks and Recreation at the Bethune Early Childhood Development Center in Gary, Indiana. The planting will take place on Thursday, October 6th from 9 am – 12 pm. I hope you can join our partnership, Bethune staff and students, and the Marshalltown Community in the planting of 28 native trees to help increase the green canopy in Gary and provide natural beauty to the Bethune campus. Where: Bethune Early childhood Development Center is located at 2367 East 21st Avenue in Gary, Indiana. Parking will be available in the school lot. What to bring: Please bring clothes you don't mind getting dirty! We will provide gloves, water, snacks, and a handwashing station. Look out for the SCA crew in blue shirts and they will direct you where to sign in and get your gloves. See ya there!
