The Ella Baker Educational Project of NC, Ella Baker Women's Center, and Carolina Common Enterprise invite you to an evening celebrating the life and legacy of Ella Jo Baker. The Cooperative Development Foundation is planning to recognize Ms. Baker as an Unsung Hero for her actions as an outstanding cooperative leader and trailblazer for social justice and racial equality. The event will be held at the newly renovated Lakeland Cultural Art Center in Littleton, NC and will begin with light hors devours and a gallery exhibit showing important moments in Ella Baker's history. Attendees will then be invited into the theater for a program highlighting the tremendous work Ella Baker completed to fight for justice and self-sufficiency within rural NC communities, amongst other beautiful accomplishments. Once this event has reached its conclusion, attendees will be able to enjoy a dinner out at one of the many eateries in quaint Littleton, NC. Tickets can also be purchased for a showing of "Breach of Peace" by Mike Wiley, a play based on the true accounts of surviving members of the Freedom Riders. Tickets can be purchased here.
