In progress for over a decade, the Walter Allen Memorial Community lecture has been a cornerstone of the ADRC’s commitment to community engagement and raising public awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. The lecture is named in honor of Walter Allen, a prominent African American photographer who worked for the New Pittsburgh Courier in the 1950s and 1960s and later died with dementia.
In this community talk, Dr. Hill will:
Discuss the role of community engagement and empowerment in pursuing social justice.Identify opportunities for national and community-based organizations to address health disparities.Discuss opportunities for partnership in pursuing health equity for those disproportionately affected by dementia.Refreshments will be provided
