Description
C2C Annual Education SummitJoin us on October, 4th, 2022 as we work toward every child and young adult succeeding from cradle to career, through shared purpose, alignment, and accountability among community partners. At the event, you will gain new resources, be grounded in research and best practice, and connect with other youth-serving professionals. Come and be a part of this collaborative effort to support youth and families in our community. Earn Continuing Education Credits The Annual Education Summit (AES) is a free professional development opportunity for education practitioners in the Rochester community with an included lunch, relaxation space, and take-home resources. Certificate of Completion and Continuing Education Units will be available at the event. It is our intention to strike a healthy balance between learning, connecting, and reflecting. You won't want to miss this event! A Focus on Sustainability Cradle 2 Career has dedicated this year's AES to sustainability and its many facets. The word "sustainability" is multi-faceted, especially through the lens of the education system. As we navigate education systems post-pandemic, how do we maintain our capacity to serve our youth, foster positive change in our community, and maintain a healthy home life? Can we do it all with mental and emotional sustainability? We know this isn't easy, but luckily we don't have to tackle everything alone. Through collaboration, we can find a balance that is good for our families, our communities, and the world. We hope to give attendees new tools to thrive sustainably. Environmental sustainability has never been more important. We have committed to making AES low-impact. Our venue, the University of St. Mary's Rochester Campus' Cascade Meadow facility, is LEED Platinum‐certified by the U.S. Green Building Council, recognizing the highest level of environmentally responsible design, construction, operation, and maintenance. Our catering team, Catering by Design, has agreed to package in minimal plastic and use compostable materials. Our PresentersRochester is a diverse community with a number of talented individuals and organizations working collectively for positive change. We have invited a few of these folks to speak on a variety of topics related to formal education, early childhood development, and youth engagement within the Rochester community and Cradle 2 Career. You will see more information on each presenter and their topics when registering for the event. In everything we do, student voice is essential. Through several mediums, we have invited students to participate in AES and to share their voices. Collective Art for Collective Change Cradle 2 Career's tag, "excellence for everyone", means something different to everyone. What does it spark in you? We believe art should be included in all things, and AES is no different. Throughout the day, we invite you to step away to share what you believe "excellence for everyone" looks like in our community through a collective art project run by high school art students under the guidance of Alexis Zaccariello, Minnesota Art Educator of the Year in 2022. A Mental Retreat We all need to take time for our mental recovery. Throughout the day, we have built-in intentional breaks to give your mind a chance to absorb the days learning and reinvigorate a zest for life. It is common practice for businesses in Asia to provide a quiet retreat for their employees. Why not give it a try? We have set aside a room at our event for quiet reflection. Of course, we are all dedicated to our professions, and it is unrealistic to leave all demands of the day at the door of the conference. For this reason, additional rooms will be available to take calls and check emails. WiFi will be free for all attendees.
