The laughter is coming to Owego when Homebrewed Comedy hits the stage at the John Barleycorn on Wednesday, Oct. 19. Karen Rontowski is headlining the show and Bill Russum and Becky Wiggins are joining host Mike Peters. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and there's a recommended $5 donation at the door, which opens at 7. Come out and enjoy the show. About the comedians: Mike Peters, a Binghamton comedian, specializes in self-deprecating, observational humor. A contributor for Funny or Die, Peters is the founder of Homebrewed Comedy. He hosts at the Syracuse Funny Bone and Wise Crackers in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., won the Utica Brews Laugh Contest and Uptown Roast Battle and opened for Super Troopers’ Rabbit, Erik Stolhanske and Gilbert Gottfried. Peters produces shows all over New York and hosts his weekly podcasts, On the Mic with Mike Peters and It’s About Time: A Sopranos Watch Podcast. Becky Wiggins is a comedian in Rome, N.Y. She’s a regular at the Uptown Theater and the Hub in Utica and runs the open mic at Chris’ Grub and Pub in Rome. A realtor in her daily life, Wiggins is always good for a laugh on any stage she touches. Bill Russum was one of the mainstays of the comedy scene in Lewisburg, Pa., before moving to Harrisburg. In addition to hosting the C.O.M.I.C. Open Mic at Civil War Cider and a mixed mic Bull Run, Russum has been able to combine a minor drinking problem with a major podcasting addiction. He hosts Oh, Yeah, Let’s Talk About and It’s About Time: A Sopranos Watch Podcast with Mike Peters. A musician and deejay, Russum is too busy for his own good, but is free enough to keep the beer fridge full. Karen Rontoswki’s stand-up showcases endearing, self-effacing and intelligent characters that catch you by surprise every time. She uniquely blends comedy with her experience as a Paranormal Investigator, Tarot and reiki master. Rontowski has appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman, Sirius Satellite Radio, Comics Unleashed, Comedy.com, Live at Gotham, Comedy Central and Mysteries of the Unexplained.
