SWAN Day/Support Women Artists Now Day is an international initiative designed to showcase the power and diversity of women’s creativity. Every year since 2008 people around the world have created events that celebrate women artists during the months of March and April. Every year, around the world, Swan Day is held the last Saturday in March. SWAN Day has five goals: To shine a spotlight on women artists – especially artists who are often marginalized by mainstream arts and media organizations. To give women artists opportunities to practice and improve their skills at marketing, budgeting, fundraising, and other skills that they need as producers of arts events. To help women artists build support networks for themselves by working with other artists in their communities to produce events featuring women artists. What this group is about: My goal is to launch the first Austin SWAN DAY on March 30, 2024. This gives us over a year to put together an amazing program that will feature women in music, art, theater, dance and more. How to get involved: This group will host monthly meetings that you can attend in-person or online. Anyone interested in Women in the Performing Arts is welcome to join and take a role in this event. If you are a performer, please note that performers will be selected by a committee as the event gets closer. What to expect from this group and the monthly planning meetings: Fun! Let's do this! It takes a village. About Me I am a seasoned music industry professional with 20 years of experience producing and promoting large-scale music events in NYC. I performed and participated in SWAN Day Connecticut which is one of the largest SWAN Day events in the country and was blown away by this extraordinary event.
