Paid Leave Oregon is a new program that ensures individuals, employers, and families — of every kind — have the time and support they need to care for themselves and their loved ones when life's important moments affect their health and safety. Paid Leave Oregon Employee Deductions begin in January 2023. Employees are able to apply for PLO as of September 3, 2023. PLO will provide up to 12 weeks of paid sick leave (own serious health condition, loved one’s serious health condition, and safe leave). PLO – 1% of the employee’s compensation with 60% from the employee, and 40% from the employer (if the employer has 25 or more employees). Employers can elect to use the State of Oregon’s plan, via the Employment department; Self-fund, accepting 100% of the financial risk; or elect a state-approved equivalent plan via a third-party insurance carrier.
