Next time you go out for sushi, choose a sake with confidence! Have you ever had a difficult time choosing a bottle of wine in a restaurant? It can be hard to know what you’re looking for if you’re not 100% sure of what you like. This problem is even more common with Japanese sake, which is just as diverse and complex as wine. Sake can be fruity, funky or earthy. It can be sweet or dry. It can be effervescent like champagne. Most incredible however, sake can exhibit an intense umami flavor, a special quality you will not find in any traditional wine. This is one reason why sake pairs so well with Japanese food like sushi and sashimi. The secret to enjoying sake is finding the best one for your individual palate! Our proprietary tasting method works like a multi-round “choose your own adventure” story that will help you discover what type of sake you like. You will taste six different styles of sake in three different tasting rounds.The sake you taste at our event will differ based on your choices in previous rounds. These three rounds will help us to narrow down exactly what qualities you like and don’t like in sake. Do you like fruity or earthy sake? Do you like sweet or dry sake? Do you like rich or lively sake? Do you like umami? Do you like traditional or modern styles?After you complete the three tasting rounds, you are free to taste any of the other sake that were part of the tasting. The bottles will be available for extra pours until they are finished!At the end of the event, we will complete a “recommendation card” for you based on your choices in the tasting. This will help you select sake you like in the future. Take it to your favorite sushi restaurant and choose your sake confidence!Tickets are $50 per person and include: Six samples of premium Japanese sake presented in three rounds and customized to your individual preferences. Additional samples available after the formal tasting.
