Cocktails & Conversation: an informative fundraising event in support of the 'For Worthington Schools' levy and bond issue campaign.  Attendees will enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, entertainment by This Side Five, as well as, guest speaker Trent Bowers, Superintendent of Worthington Schools. On November 8, 2022, the Worthington City Schools will have Issues 6 & 7 on the ballot. Together, these critical issues will help solve two of the district’s biggest challenges – Worthington Schools have managed costs and kept educational quality high – while student enrollment has continued to grow. Worthington Schools are expecting projected enrollment of more than 600 additional students in the next 4-5 years, adding to the more than 1,000 students we’ve gained in the last 15 years – and the district does not receive additional state funding to keep up. After holding down spending and controlling health care costs, staffing, and administrative expenses, there is simply nowhere left to cut. The operating issue will be phased in over time, so we only generate the funds when we need to support these additional students. A citizens’ committee, first formed 2017, has helped develop a facility master plan that alleviates overcrowding, updates aging buildings, and upgrades classroom to accommodate modern teaching methods. Our aging high schools also need significant updates and replacements, with construction costs continuing to rise, making these school improvements become even more expensive if we wait. These two issues are absolutely critical to our community’s future, they are necessary now, and vitual for our future. Our Schools NEED Us Now.
