Description

The Western Trombone Festival is a day-long musical/educational event featuring two outstanding trombonists from Chicago: free-lance trombone artist and educator Tom Stark, and renowned jazz trombonist Tim Coffman. The Festival is open to all - students, professionals, adult amateurs, and even interested non-trombonists! There will be master classes, clinics, and performances by our guest artists, and a Festival Low Brass Choir for all participants. Registration and entrance to all of the day's events is only $20. The day's schedule is as follows: 9:00 Check-In at the Recital Hall 9:30 Warm Up Class with Tom Stark 10:15 Festival Choir Rehearsal with Conductor Sophie Small 11:00 Master Class with Tom Stark 12:15 Lunch Break 1:15 Master class with Tim Coffman 2:30 Recital featuring John Mindeman and the Festival Choir 3:00 Recital featuring Tom Stark, pianist Yeon-kyung Kim, Tim Coffman and the HAT Trio 4:30 Done! This event hosted by John Mindeman, Associate Professor of Trombone and Euphonium at WIU ([email protected]), and is sponsored in part by the Western Illinois University School of Music.
