Cassie Blanchette, a well-known soprano from local community theater, will be singing popular Broadway show tunes in a concert at Athol Congregational Church, 1225 Chestnut Street, Athol on Sunday afternoon, October 23 at 3 p.m. to benefit Ukrainian children impacted by the war. Donations at the door are appreciated and will benefit SONG (Supporting Orphans Nationally and Globally). This local organization not only provides ongoing support primarily to children orphaned by the war in Ukraine, but also to other Ukrainian refugees. To date, they have assisted Aerial Recovery in rescuing 841 orphaned children, 3,988 refugees, and 89 animals since the 24th of February. Wally Connor, the director of SONG is at a refugee camp in Poland right now assisting with the needs.
Cassie will be accompanied by Stephanie Parker. Other singers performing are Taylor Lawton, Tenor; Marcus Provost, Baritone and Julie Bouchard, Alto. Beverly Prestwood-Taylor will also be singing a prayer for the children of Ukraine in Russian. She will be accompanied by Leonid Rogach.
