Jazz Legends gather for a jam session of the ages featuring Kenyon Carter on sax, Tim Pleasant on drums, Bill Saitta on bass, and Doug MacDonald on guitar. Kenyon Carter Kenyon Carter is an internationally acclaimed saxophonist and recording artist specializing in jazz, R&B, and pop. His music can be heard on contemporary jazz radio around the world, ahd he also performs locally throughout Southern California. With 25+ years of experience as an arranger, composer, and producer, Kenyon also creates custom music for film and television, writes custom arrangements for other artists, and offers musical transcription services for individual musicians up to Big Bands. Doug MacDonald There are some musicians who earn the label “a players player”. Individuals who possess a quality and integrity that peers look up to, not for mere bursts of blazing notes or chops, but for the perfection of their performances and the joy they bring. Such a musician is West coast based Jazz journeyman guitarist Doug MacDonald. Tim Pleasant In the early and mid 70’s, Tim was a member of the fusion group Solstice. His tenure with this innovative collection of musicians provided a great foundation in various musical styles from jazz fusion and World music to be-bop. During his twenty-one year musical residency in New York City, he had the opportunity to perform with Warne Marsh, Sal Mosca, Jaki Byard, Johnny Ray, Charles McPherson, Frank Lowe and Kurt Rosenwinkel. Tim moved to the SoCal area in 2000 and has been a mainstay of the vibrant Los Angeles and Palm Springs Jazz scene. Come on up to the VIP Lounge on the 2nd floor of the Palm Springs Cultural Center for the hottest happy hour in town. Happy Hour runs from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Tuesday evenings enjoy the music stylings of Leanna and the Jazz Collective the fall featuring stadards and new works! Leanna & The Jazz Collective - led by bandleader/vocalist Leanna, and husband Miguel Gomez on congas - Palm Springs favs, lauded by fans the modern day Ricky & Lucy, backed by an All Star line-up of jazz musicians in their band. Experience an evening of Jazz, Latin Jazz, Bossa Nova, and Swing, with a dash of comedic sass.
