**COVID-19 NOTE: This event will be held INDOORS, and following Durham County current guidelines, we will not be checking proof of vaccination upon entry or requiring masks. Your parents are out for the night. You're alone in the house, and you hear footsteps—from upstairs; Your roommate invites you to go caving with her and some friends. The large cave system channels suddenly into a small crawlspace two and a half feet by two and a half feet. As you crawl in a line through this section, you suddenly realize you are severely claustrophobic; You've been out on your mountain bike for three hours. It is raining hard, you have no cell reception, and you lost the trail an hour ago. For some, fear is something we read about in stories; for others, it is a constant companion. Join us on October 19th for our Annual Fear StorySLAM as we tell and listen to stories about how we approached, overcame, or ultimately succumbed to our deepest fears. About The Monti StorySLAM (18 & up event) The Monti StorySLAM is an open storytelling event, where anyone with a story on a certain theme has a chance to tell it.  This is a competitive event, so there will be judges in the audience.  At each event, there will be eight storytellers chosen at random; each story is five minutes long; one winner will be declared at the end of the night.  Here's how you can tell your story.) You think, "Hey, I have a story that goes with that theme!" (The theme for this event is FEAR!)You buy a ticket.You practice your five-minute story at home and in your car.You show up and fill out a form stating that you would like to tell a story (NOTE: You DO NOT have to tell a story to attend.  You can just sit back and enjoy the show.)During the show, we will pick names from a hat at random, one at a time, and each person called will have five minutes to tell their story.After eight stories have been told, one winner will be declared!Winners from each StorySLAM will qualify for The Monti GrandSLAM in early 2023. The GrandSLAM brings the winners back to compete for the ultimate title of The Monti GrandSLAMpion!
