The Department of Dance and India Association of Charlotte collaborate to present a leadership symposium focusing on artistic integration into the life of Charlotte. In India, the arts permeate all parts of the civic landscape, and dance is a part of daily life in a spiritually affirming and nurturing way. Could this idea inspire Charlotte's "Cultural Masterplan"?
As Charlotte creates in first cultural masterplan, we explore a radically different landscape, considering Indian culture as inspiration for how to move forward in a new way. This symposium hopes to suggest a new vision for the arts in Charlotte, and by centering global south perspectives, it foregrounds the centrality of diverse perspectives, also represented in the array of speakers from educational, corporate, public, and artistic sectors.
A reception follows the program.
