Description

We'll stroll up Mitchell Canyon in search of "witches' broom" mistletoe and other signs of the season. But first, we'll meet the famous 8-legged diva, Scarlett O'Harry (a tarantula), examine the skins and skulls of some of our native Bay Area fauna, and hear the tale of Bully Ingram, a pirate who jumped ship and took up residence in a cave near Mitchell Canyon! TOTAL DISTANCE This is an easy hike of two miles roundtrip with little elevation change. LEADERS Liz Watson and Ken Lavin WEATHER POLICY Rain cancels. COST $6 per vehicle park entrance fee (exact cash required). Pay at the entrance gate. WHERE TO MEET We'll assemble near the Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center. NOTES Bring water and snacks. Dress in layers, wear good hiking shoes, and bring a flashlight. If you have questions about this outing, email Ken Lavin or call him at 415-543-6771 x321.
