Domestic violence is a costly and devastating problem in our country. It is the leading cause of injury to women, causing more injuries than muggings, stranger rapes and car accidents combined. According to the most recent KBI (Kansas Bureau of Investigation) 2020 report, One Domestic Violence Murder Occurred every 10 days, One Domestic Violence Incident occurred every 23 minutes and Kansas Law Enforcement made One Domestic Violence Arrest every 47 minutes in the State of Kansas. In recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, on Sunday, October 9, 2022, 3:30 pm, Friends of Yates will host its 7th Annual Evening of Praise, “Friends Saving Lives through Praise” Fundraiser to bring awareness to this social ill as well as raise funds to provide vital services to victims experiencing abuse in our community. This event will feature, Kansas City's own talented recording artist Julius J.B. Brownlee. Attendees will also hear the powerful testimony of a Domestic Violence Survivor and how the services provided by the DG/JHWC saved their life.
