CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A Shelby Township teenager was killed Sunday afternoon in a Macomb County crash, police said.
Police said the 18-year-old was driving a gray 2018 Audi eastbound on Cass Avenue near Halsey Boulevard at 5:13 p.m. in Clinton Township.
The teenager then lost control of the car and crossed over into westbound traffic where it was hit by a back 2015 Ford Taurus, police said.
The driver of the Taurus was also injured and taken to a nearby hospital where their condition was unknown Tuesday morning, police said. The teen driving the Audi was found dead inside the car after the crash, police said.
Officials said the crash happened on a straight stretch of Cass Avenue, where the speed limit is 50 miles per hour. The road has two lanes heading in each direction, as well as a left turn lane in the middle.
Clinton Township police were still investigating the crash and asked anyone with information to call 586-493-7802 or 586-615-2525.
