Starts November 7th (Mondays from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. for 6 weeks.)
In this acrylic painting series we will look at how artists such as Edward Hopper, Lois Dodd, Matthew Wong, and others have engaged with and represented the night. We will look at what inspired these artists, learn enlightening facts about their art and methods of creating effective night scenes. We will use class time to study but also to play with ways of painting that use the techniques we identify. These approaches will include painting a study of the artist’s piece, looking at how the paint is applied and dynamic color mixing. You will create your own original paintings using one or more of the artists’ ideas about color, style, composition, etc. Start your week off with time to play with paint as you learn the tricks and techniques of the masters. This class is for beginners and intermediate students.
Non-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200.
Fee does not include materials. A list of recommended supplies can be emailed upon request.
NOTE: COVID-19 protocols are in place for the safety of our teachers and students, including wearing masks while inside the building. Click HERE to review our protocols before registering for this series.
