Full Moon Offering
The Hunter’s Moon
Sunday, October 9
6-7:30pm
Yin Yoga, Journaling, and Yoga Nidra
Guided by Tina
The full moon can represent many things to different cultures throughout the world. This moon is often referred to as Hunter’s Moon or the Blood Moon, as it rises early at sunset producing a reflection to appear red, and it is also called the Blood Moon from perhaps both the color of the moon and the hunting rituals. October is when many people believe the veil is thin and communication with one’s ancestors is more available. Further, there are many festivals celebrating this moon. The Chinese celebrate by making and eating mooncakes and the Sharad Purnima festival in India, noting several things like the full moon, early autumn, celebrating Lakshmi, and the end of the monsoon season. Full moons offer a time to reflect on the closures and endings of cycles, and it is an auspicious time gently wean off old habits that no longer serve us. Bring your journal as you may want to write during the yin postures. Yin yoga practice will be slow and contemplative, holding poses for several minutes to allow deep connective tissue release. During the rest, there will be a Yoga Nidra (Yogic Nap) meditation. This class is for all levels and first-timers.
Specialty Class Investment: $8 for BY OKC members and $10 for a non-member. Please Note: We encourage students to sign up in advance and optional to bring their journal. Light refreshments served
