Description

We invite you to join us for a Day of the Dead Celebration. There's something about sharing our memories, our happiness, and our grief that satisfies a soul-deep longing. Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a traditional Meso-American holiday dedicated to the ancestors. It honors both death and the cycle of life. The celebration acknowledges that we still have a relationship with our ancestors and loved ones that have passed away. Join us for the afternoon as we create altars for the beloved dead - human and animal. Making a Day of the Dead altar is a way for us to honor the life of someone who is no longer with us and to remember our ancestors. As we gather together, we honor their memory through prayer, laughter, decorations, food, poems and music. We’ll write calaveras, witty or satirical epitaphs in story or poem form about our departed- the funnier, the better! And of course, we’ll share Day of the Dead bread. Please feel free to bring: Photos of your loved onesTrinkets that the person liked when they were aliveFlowersAn orange, black or white candleAny objects you would like to use to set up your altarOur ritual is a festive celebration of our loved ones, who now live in an even more beautiful place, and whom we’ve invited to stop by for a visit.
