Just a ? : what material did you play? The old saying, "When in Rome", still holds true. I once had a group that played classic rock and newer stuff, some time ago. Was booked for a gig in N Idaho. Wasn't aware it was a country crowd. We tried to appease them. I was thinking of any and all country music I could. For what I remember, it went fair. Lesson learned. Be prepared for anything. Also another time I played a local dive bar on a hot August Fri/Sat. 5-8 people on Friday and almost no one on Saturday. Then, at 10:45, (both acts were cover bands with the usual 15 minute break before the top of the hour) the manager/staff came to me and stated that a bachelorette party was coming in to party, cut loose and I had better up the ante. Well, I corralled the troops and quickly jotted down every freaking Pop, country and dance song I could think of. Thankfully the Bassist and drummer locked in. Played non stop from 11-2, no BR breaks, staff brought refreshments,etc... but we did our best, bar made a little money ( the crowd was increasing) and so did we. Another lesson learned.
