Black Birth Matters presents Our Lineage : Tour & Tea. Brittany, an accomplished birth worker, administrative assistant, and tour guide, will lead you around the historic French Quarter. Chae, the Supreme Midwife, will lead a babywearing demonstration to kick off this one-of-a-kind tour. This trip will provide both historical and contemporary context for understanding the birth-work landscape in New Orleans' Black community. Here, we'll "spill the tea" on the effects of slavery, get under the veneer of the Black midwife, and bring home the truth that birth is everywhere. As part of our excursion, we will visit locations that are steeped in cultural and spiritual lore that has endured through the ages and continues to have significant relevance in modern society.
