He has studied piano performance, applied mathematics, philosophy, systematic theology and apologetics, and his PhD is in History and Philosophy of Science (Physics). He has taught at Northwestern University, the University of Notre Dame, Baylor University, Biola University, and The King’s College, as well as served as Research Director for the Center for Science and Culture at Discovery Institute, where he remains a Senior Fellow. He has authored several scholarly articles and he has co-edited two book. One book is called "The Nature of Nature: Examinging the Role of Naturalism in Science". Professor Gordon is now a professor at Houston Baptist University and his research focuses on: (1) the interpretation and inter-relationship of quantum theory, relativity, unification physics, cosmology, and philosophical theology; (2) intelligent design theory applied to physics, cosmology, and biology; (3) socio-cultural, methodological, epistemological, and metaphysical factors affecting the historical development and current practice of science; (4) historically orthodox Christian biblical interpretation and theological formulation with respect to questions raised by modern science; and (5) education and public policy issues related to science, ethics, and culture.
