Description
Hey, pickleball players and fans! V Pizza and its charity, V for Victory will slice up the courts on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Durham's Bethesda Park for a great cause. Help fundraise with V For Victory, a non-profit charity supporting local families while battling cancer. This is an OPEN DOUBLES tournament with 3 skill levels of competition for all ages. BEGINNER (0 to 3.0)INTERMEDIATE (3.0 to 4.0)ADVANCED (4.0+)V Pizza, the Triangle's top Neapolitan pizza restaurant has partnered with your neighborhood sports store, Omega Sports for its inaugural V for Victory Community Pizza & Pickleball Tournament. If you love pickleball, we invite you to join us for a community tournament serving up fun, plenty of wood-fired pizza, and more. V for Victory helps locals with everyday support beyond their medical needs. When a family is going through their cancer treatment, the last thing they want to worry about is cooking a meal, getting the tires replaced, or fixing the HVAC. The charity works with a host of local service-based businesses to supply support. V Pizza NC's owner and operator, Anthony Rapillo shares, "V Pizza and V for Victory started in Florida. I was blessed to successfully establish V Pizza here in the Triangle a few years ago. The reception to our authentic creations have been amazing. More importantly, I've been able to work with community partners through V for Victory to really make an impact on the lives of locals with cancer. I'm proud to provide meals at no cost, but even prouder to connect families with other local businesses that can help them with something they need. V for Victory covers the costs and the families can stay focused on what's important - their health and their family." He adds, "I've had the opportunity to partner with Omega Sports on a number of occasions. What's great about them is that they are all about their local community. I've had the chance to help families gear up their children with great sporting products and even hosted a couple of special shopping nights for families where they shut the store down to allow for safe shopping for kids with cancer. I'm excited to be working with them on this tournament."HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:REGISTRATION Registration is $25 per playerPlayers must select their skill level (beginner, intermediate, advanced)Partners/team should register with two registrations Tournament Directors will assign times, matches, and teamsDirectors will send all participants a 1st Draft Match Schedule by Oct. 13, 2022 (end of day) - make sure to sign up before the 13th!There will be limited OPEN scheduling the day of the event, but we will do our best to accommodate all playersTIME BLOCKS - We have broken up the tournament into 3 skill blocks. 8AM to 11:30AM - Intermediate play12PM to 3:30PM - Beginner play4PM to 7PM - Advanced playV Pizza will have players scoring with FREE hot freshly made pizzas and cold refreshments all tournament long!
