Human Passed Away: 1.5 yr Australian Cattle Dog Free/Experienced Home

Description

Our friend tragically passed away in Portland, Oregon this month leaving behind his Australian Cattle Dog, "Polo". The plan was to fly Polo back to his owners parents house in Florida. We took him to a vet in town to be examined and get his travel certificate and his rabies shot up-to date. Unfortunately, the airline did not let us travel with him because he was in too much "distress". We would love to keep him, but want him to have the home proper for an Australian Cattle Dog, with plenty of room to run around and stimulation to keep him happy! We have all of his medical records. We've made him an appointment to get fixed on Oct. 18th. We are looking for a home that has either experience with the breed, or has had experience with high-energy cattle dogs. Polo is extremely smart and well-behaved for the most part. He has not had any obedience school training and could use some guidance for all of his energy! He is very active and loves to play fetch, chew on sticks, and play with friends. We have a 5 year old lab-mix that he is having a lot of fun playing with!! His only behavioral issue is that he growls and turns defensive when I go to shut the door of his crate. Im not sure if its the loud noise of the crate shutting, or if maybe he got his foot slammed in the door before (?). Ive been using a soft, sweet voice when I put him in it, and that seems to be making him less upset. Overall, he's doing amazing considering he's in a whole new environment with new people. If interested, please respond via email and let us know why you would be a great home for Polo. Thank you!
