Hey there, My name is James Smith. I’m a 26 year old from Northwest Florida. I’ve just recently moved back to Athens and am looking to join some like-minded musicians! I’m a hard worker that doesn’t like turning down or missing gigs! I’m a bit of a perfectionist that always falls short, so my playing style is very in-the-pocket. I’m used to 6 hours of sweaty hard work at every gig, and I look forward to every minute of it! My ultimate goal and pursuit in life is to make a living being a professional drummer, be that in the studio or touring or otherwise… I don’t wanna have to resort to TikTok lol 😂 I have over 10 years stage experience, ranging from contemporary Christian music, rock, funk, blues, progressive rock, and progressive metal… pretty much everything but dubstep and jazz. I’ve been in 6 or more cover bands, and 4 original bands (that have actually played multiple shows, not counting garage/jam bands cuz there’s too many of those to count) I have years of experience with in ear monitoring systems, studio environments, and playing live to a click and/or backing tracks. Around 2018 I joined a few bands and played 4 hour bar/restaurant gigs until I moved back to Athens in July of 2022. In that time I’ve had the humbling and incredible experience of meeting friends and people I would call family. One band I was in opened for Saliva and Tantric in 2019 and 2020, just before Covid came along. They were incredibly gracious to us and it was a great time! Since then I’ve been in a band with my best friend of 15 years that I intend to stay heavily involved with, but my schedule is very flexible.
