MAPS-NOW has adopted a section of Marymoor Park. We meet several times a year to preserve that natural area and make it more suitable for local wildlife. This is a great opportunity to come with your whole family (all ages are welcome) and enjoy the beautiful nature that Allah (swt) has blessed us while contributing back to nature and our community, fulfilling one of MAPS goal of Model Citizen. What to Expect On The day Please plan to arrive by 8:45am to allow time to find parking and event registration. Valuable information and instructions are given at start of event and it is important for all volunteers to be present.When you arrive, we will have you (or your parent/guardian) sign in and then gather for an introduction circle. We’ll discuss safety, King County Parks, the park that you are serving in, why this work is important, and our plans for the day before we dig into our project.What to Bring Gardening gloves/work glovesClosed-toe shoes are required! (ex: sturdy sneakers, rain boots, hiking boots. No sandals, heels, or flats)Layers of clothing that can get dirtyLong sleeves and thick leg coverings to protect against thorny plants (shorts or capris are not recommended)Rain gear -OR- sunblock and a sun hat (be sure to check the weather)Full water bottleSnacksYouth: Young people under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Any minors under the age of 18 attending the event without a parent or legal guardian must also bring a signed Youth Waiver to the event in order to participate.Covid-19 Safety Measures: Anyone over the age of 12 interested in volunteering need to bring proof of their COVID-19 vaccination status. This could be your card, a photo or copy of their card or one of the digital QR codes so that King County Park staff can verify that volunteers over the age of 12 have all been vaccinated. Meeting Location and Directions The nearest entrance to the park (east entrance) is at the intersection of 176th Ave NE and NE 65th St, Redmond, WA 98052Meeting Spot: Meet in the grassy area behind the Regional Maintenance Shop (marked on map below with a BLUE star)If entering from the Marymoor Park East Entrance: Turn left into the driveway for the Regional Maintenance Shop (marked on map with RED arrow) and park either on the right side of the driveway (along the fence) or in the small lot at the eastern end of the driveway. Look for the purple King County Parks parking sign. Walk east down the trail to our meeting spot (marked on the map with a BLUE star). Please walk over to the meeting spot to get a parking pass.If entering from the Marymoor Park West Main Entrance: Continue driving through the park. Turn right into the driveway for the Regional Maintenance Shop (marked on map with RED arrow) and park either on the right side of the driveway (along the fence) or in the small lot at the eastern end of the driveway. Look for the purple King County Parks parking sign. Walk east down the trail to our meeting spot (marked on the map with a BLUE star).
