Description
Local contractor seeking 1-3 PT Apprentice Carpenters for occasional work. You will be assisting one of our owners and lead carpenter on 2 man jobs. Most jobs will be window and/or door replacements with occasional other renovation work. No experience necessary, excellent learning opportunity for anyone interested in joining the trade. REQUIREMENTS -Age 18+. College students more than welcome to apply! -MUST be fit and able to repeatedly lift 75+ pounds over the course of a shift. -MUST be able to read a tape measure. -At least 3 days a week you are consistently available from 8am-8pm. It’s unlikely a shift will extend past 8 hours, however hours are scheduled around our clients preferences and can vary. -Must be able to follow direction and stay on task. -Must be respectful and conscious at all times that these are our clients homes, not just our job sites. -Must be able to independently get to and from the job sites on time. If you will be catching a bus, please let us know in the application. This will not disqualify you, but we will keep in mind if there are any nearby bus stops when scheduling. -Non-Smokers preferred. There will be no extra time allotted for smoke breaks, and if you are a smoker and smoke on breaks it will be expected that you go a significant distance from the clients house (1 block or more) to do so and that cigarette butts are properly disposed of in a respectful manner. -Basic hand tools a plus but not necessary. DESCRIPTION -Assist in assigned tasks related to window installation, door installation, or other home renovation projects. -We pride ourselves on our attention to detail and hard working approach. We never rush a job but don’t drag our feet. It is expected you are always finding something to do, but take enough time to get it right. We offer a lifetime guarantee on all our installs so this is absolutely crucial. -Must be an excellent listener and take instruction well. Our owner likes things done a very specific way and strives to always provide the best quality work in the region. This position is ideal for someone who truly wants to learn and excel in the skill of carpentry. -Must be able to handle constructive criticism and use it as a learning opportunity to improve. If you don’t think you can handle this, please don’t apply. -Responsible for all on-site cleanup needed during the course of the shift. We leave our clients homes in perfect condition at the end of every day, even if we aren’t yet finished. -Depending on the level of help required, you will either be scheduled for a half day or full day shift, with shifts never being lass than 2.5 hours. Occasionally you may be needed slightly longer than 8 hours. Let us know at the time of scheduling if you will be unable to stay past the initially scheduled time. -This is a 1099 independent contractor position. We do not guarantee a certain number of hours and it’s very possible there will be a significant amount of time in between jobs. We are a small company just starting out in Washington and don’t need two people very often just yet. However there is the possibility of being offered a permanent FT or PT position in 6+ months when we start hiring permanent staff. We will offer any available permanent positions to the 1099 contractors that we feel are a great fit for the company before advertising them publicly. -Scheduling will be done via phone or text. Shifts will be offered to the contractors based on their provided availability and demonstrated performance on prior jobs. -Jobs are primarily in Seattle but could be anywhere in the region. We work everywhere from Tacoma to Everett and the entirety of King County. This is a paid position and will be paid cash $20/hr at the end of each shift. To apply, send an email with the following information: -Who are you? Tell us about yourself. This is the most important part of the application. Don’t try and be who you think we might want. It’s hard to scare us off, but fake is fake. -Resume if available, or brief description of work history if you don’t have one. No cover sheets! -Do you have any carpentry experience in particular? If so, explain. -Why are you interested in this position? If you have no prior experience, what has you interested now? -What days and times are you consistently available? We will schedule shifts as soon as we book the jobs, but sometimes that is with very short notice. Only put down the days you absolutely think it would be rare that there could be a conflict that would prevent you from accepting a shift. -What days/times are you definitely never available? -Do you have your own transportation? If not, how will you be getting to and from the job sites? -Are you able to repeatedly lift 75+ pounds throughout a shift? -Are you legally allowed to work in the USA? We will be contacting for interviews sometime during this coming week, and will let everyone know one way or another if they are being offered an interview or not. The number of independent contractors we bring on will be dependent on the availability of those we feel are a good fit.
