The Cape Verdean Nurses Association Inc. (CVNA) is a 501c (3) nonprofit organization founded in 2016, working to support, improve and transform the overall health of the Cabo Verdean community in both the United States and Cabo Verde. CVNA is composed of Cape Verdean nurses from different sectors of the healthcare system, with our primary mission to provide health promotion education to the underserved and underrepresented Cape Verdean population in the greater Boston, Brockton and the Rhode Island community.
In 2018, we extended our services to the country of Cabo Verde, where we have been working closely with nurses providing them with medical/nursing supplies to facilitate their day-to-day work and providing them with information on the latest in nursing education to optimize patients’ outcomes. We also value education, for which we offer scholarships to Cape Verdean descendants pursuing nursing as a career.
On November 5, 2022, we are returning after a 2-year pandemic-induced hiatus, and we are hosting our 4th Annual Fundraising Gala, “Together Again,” at Lombardo’s in Randolph, Massachusetts. We will celebrate the evening, highlighting our community efforts from the past years with a sit-down dinner, entertainment, and awards ceremony.
