Description
Say 'Italy,' and indelible images of Florence and Sienna, great paintings and sculptures of the Renaissance, villas with romantic landscapes, and especially fine food and wine come to mind. The wine of Italy can offer a wider discovery. In this class, hosted by Olivier Flosse, our Sommelier and expert on Italian wines, we’ll review and sample a selection representative of the abundance and variety of Italian wines, from a crisp Prosecco to a rich & intense Barbaresco. And yes, we’ll taste a fine Brunello as well. Cost: $60.00 per person (includes $25 gift card *) Light appetizers accompany this event. All reservations can be made on Eventbrite or email us at: [email protected] * Gift card use applies only to the featured products of the event tasting. Bisson, Frizzante, Prosecco, Veneto, 2021 A refreshingly bone-dry offering that stands in sharp contrast to its many cloying peers. Clean, bright, and refreshing, it presents notes of acacia honey, white flowers, crunchy green apples, and tart nectarines atop a subtly mineral underlay. Mastroberardino, Lacryma Christi Del Vesuvio, Campania, 2020 Straw yellow with hints of pineapple, white peach, and a typical licquorice aroma. Well-structured and balanced wine, showing fine fruit allied to mineral notes Barbaresco, Ada Nada, Valeirano, Piedmont, 2018 There is elegance to this Barbaresco alongside the rather stur- dy tannins that frame the spice-driven fruit at the center of this wine’s profile. A classic wine of the appellation with woodsy notes, spry acidity and excellent lift on the palate. Brunello Di Montalcino, Padelletti, Tuscany, 2017 Shows dried raspberry and cherry, with hints of baked fruit, earthy terracotta and clay. These more robust aromas can definitely be associated with the hot and dry conditions present in this growing season. However, that Padelletti house style that prizes elegance and graceful fruit is also front and center. About Olivier Flosse Olivier Flosse is a 2X Grand Award Winner.
