Description
Joshua Tree National Park Association in partnership with the 29 Palms Band Of Mission Indians presents Beneath the Desert Sky Saturday, October 15, 2022 @ Tortoise Rock Casino A night of music curated by David Catching, owner of Rancho de la Luna Studio in Joshua Tree, benefitting Joshua Tree National Park’s Astronomy Outreach Program Featuring C’est Claire Trio, Alain Johannes, Belief, Mojave Lords, and special guests C’est Claire is the nom de plume for singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Claire Wadsworth, a California high desert resident and owner of the highly acclaimed Flamingo Heights restaurant, La Copine. Alain Johannes is a Chilean-American multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, whose primary instruments are guitar and bass. He is a founding member of several bands, including the alternative rock group Eleven, and has been involved with acts such as QOTSA, Them Crooked Vultures, PJ Harvey, Chris Cornell, Arctic Monkeys, Mark Lanegan, and The Desert Sessions, both as a musician and as a producer. Belief is an experimental dance music duo featuring Stella Mozgawa, the drummer of Warpaint, and Bryan Hollon, a producer and musician who performs as Boom Bip and as one-half of Neon Neon. Belief pays homage to the pioneers of techno, the project is born out of an oddly divine foresight Mozgawa and Hollon share, the synergy of two devout tastemakers building a shrine to inner peace and outward pleasure. Mojave Lords was born at Rancho De La Luna recording studio in Joshua Tree California in 2014 when Bingo Richey and David Catching decided to put a band together. Along with help from Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees, Tuatara, Walking Papers), Brian O’Connor (EODM), Gene Trautmann (QOTSA, EODM), Chris Goss (Masters of Reality), Christopher Thorn (Blind Melon), and more, they birthed a new wave of Desert Stoner Rock. They will be joined by Scott Reeder (Kyuss, The Obsessed, Fireball Ministry) and Peter Buck (R.E.M.). Your contribution will allow Joshua Tree National Park to greatly increase its Astronomy Outreach Program with a dedicated effort to reach traditionally marginalized groups. Ticket price includes a Beneath the Desert Sky poster and guitar pick. Food and drinks available for purchase on-site, along with concert merch and raffle items. More details to follow. An email will be sent to ticket holders prior to the event. It is going to be another unforgettable night for a worthy cause Beneath the Desert Sky! Thank you for your support.
