Pro Arte Chamber Orchsetra of Greater Washington Dimitar Nikolov, Music Director Performs works by:ROSSINI ALBENIZ DE FALLA BEETHOVEN CHABRIERRossini: l barbiere di Siviglia Ouverture Albéniz: Tango No 2 in D major, Op 165 de Falla: El amor brujo Amanda Wyand, Mezzo-Soprano Beethoven: Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 36 Chabrier: España Amanda Wyand, MezzoMezzo-soprano Amanda Wyand possesses a “sizable instrument infused with breadth and warmth.” Her “vibrant, soaring voice is made truly special by the beauty of her soul.” Ms. Wyand’s operatic credits include Mercedes (Carmen, Bizet), Zemfira (Aleko, Rachmaninoff), and Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte). Concert appearances include Mozart’s Requiem (H.B. Woodlawn High School), Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass (St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, PA) and Viktors Baštiks Christmas Oratorio (Philadelphia Latvian Concert Choir). As a recitalist, Ms. Wyand is a frequent expositor of Latvian art music — most notably an American premiere of excerpts from Eriks Ešenvalds opera The Immured. Ms. Wyand was a third-place winner in her division at the 2019 VANATS auditions, a semifinalist at the 2015 NATS Eastern Region Conference Auditions, and a two-time division winner at the NATS—Los Angeles competition. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Magna Cum Laude) from Pepperdine University and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy (with Distinction) from Westminster Choir College. Ms. Wyand studies with Danielle Talamantes and Ira Siff.
