We will create, update, and improve Wikipedia articles pertaining to the lives and works of visual artists from the African Diaspora. Please bring your laptop, power cord, and enthusiasm!
All are invited, with no specialized knowledge of the subject or Wikipedia editing experience required. A brief overview of the basics of Wikipedia editing will be given to first-time participants. We will have resources and a list of suggested artists, cultural creators, and institutions on hand.
Join us at the new SAID Pan African Library at 12126 Westheimer Road on Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. No experience is required and you don't have to stay the whole time.Wikipedia is a well-known and widely used global resource, yet content is skewed by the lack of diversity in race, ethnicity, and gender of average Wikipedia contributors.
This event is organized in collaboration with Black Lunch Table and the SAID Pan-African Library. Bask Black is funded in part by the BIPOC Arts Network & Fund with support from the Community Artists' Collective.
