As a medical student, she published one of the first studies looking at women's preferences for screening mammography from the perspective of different ethnic backgrounds. Dr. Jafri is committed to preventative medicine and has an interest in lifestyle modifications to reduce the risk of breast cancer and recurrence. 10:00-10:45 DetecTogether 3 Step to Early Detection Heather Maykel, Director of Partnership & Program Development with DetecTogether will give a 45-minute training to learn the steps to early detection of cancer. The training is developed for women first responders. 11:00-12:15 Panel Discussion/Q&A on Breast Cancer in the Fire Service Anita Paratley -Retired SFFD Battalion Chief, 33 years of service, MSW, CCSF professor, breast cancer survivor. Dr. Jessica Trobridge- Dr. Trowbridge’s curiosity about the impact of exposure to environmental chemicals on health came out of her experience living binationally and experiencing the environmental burdens of pollution in her communities in central Mexico and Richmond, Ca. She has worked with women firefighters and the Women Workers Biomonitoring Collaborative for the past 7 years. She is currently a researcher at the University of California, San Francisco. Veronica Ang, DACM, LAc-Magnolia Wellness Center Dr. Ang is a licensed primary care provider, doctor of acupuncture and Chinese medicine and herbalist and has been practicing since 2006. Fertility, women's health, breast health, hormonal health are her focus. 12:15-13:00- Lunch Chef Lulu, the head chef and owner of Casa Boriquena creates extraordinarily delicious 100% plant-based Puerto Rican food.
