Join us at Hancock Golf Course for the first ever Hancock It's My Park Day and community celebration! With regular golf play suspended for the day, Hancock will be opened up to the community as a park for the day, with a full day of community focused programing. This event was envisioned and created by the Austin Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with the Austin Parks Foundation to celebrate Hancock's cherished place in the north Austin community. Additional support and planning have been provided by the Hancock Neighborhood Association, the Hancock Conservancy, and the Hancock Golf Course Conservancy. Day's Schedule: From dawn to sunset: Enjoy Hancock as a park! The west side of the golf course will be a park all day, while the east side (holes 1-3) will host a 3-hole golf tournament from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM (and can be used as a park outside of these hours). 8:00 AM -9:00 AM: Breakfast tacos and coffee for volunteers in the NW corner (Peck and 41st) 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM: Volunteer events, hosted by Austin Parks Foundation. Please sign up on the APF It's My Park Day website for Hancock (link coming soon) 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM: Rec Center Open House. Learn about the Austin Parks and Rec Department's extensive programing at the Hancock rec center through a rec center open house. Golfers can head to hole 1 a take part in a three hole golf tournament and other golf related events from Golf ATX 1:00 PM -7:00 PM: Open park usage across all of Hancock. From picnicking to kite flying to strolling along Waller Creek, you're encouraged to take advantage of this neighborhood greenspace. Come to the picnic tables outside the rec center for live music, nature talks, free ice cream for children, and other family-fun events (more details to come). Important Notes: Hancock Golf Course has asked that all guests stay off the putting greens Parking: You are encouraged to ride or bike to the park. If you drive, please carpool and park in a way that is respectful of the people who live around the golf course. IMPD planners thank those who live near the golf course for their understanding.
