The Butterfly Effect is an annual Lupus Awareness event hosted by The LupieGirl, Inc. that recognizes Lupus Awareness and celebrates those who are battling this fight. Lupus is a complicated and unpredictable disease that affects millions of people every year, especially women of color. Flare-ups come and go and many have a hard controlling this illness. Many health professionals are still unaware of its impact on people right here in our community. There are many Lupies living with Lupus who do in fact develop organ complications such as heart disease, kidney disease, etc. There are Lupies who are homeless, jobless, and even times without healthcare to treat their illness.
