S.O.A.R Project DC is a new initiative geared towards gun violence prevention and intervention. We work primarily with teens from high-crime neighborhoods that have been impacted by the gun violence epidemic in the District of Columbia. The S.O.A.R Project serves as a free after-school program that nurtures creativity and cultivates the skills of S.O.A.R. participants (aka "Eagles) through the vehicle of journalism and digital media. Eagles use digital technology to produce equitable, high-quality multimedia projects to share their stories, construct their narratives and report on their communities. The proposed project will explore the impact of gun violence on youth from high-crime neighborhoods worldwide through a global and local lens.
