Fall Book Donation Day, sponsored by the Friends of the C.H. Booth Library, is set for Sunday, October 16, 2022—rain or shine—from noon to 5 pm in the rear parking lot of the C.H. Booth Library at 25 Main Street, Newtown. Volunteers will be on hand to help you unload your vehicle and to provide tax receipts. The Friends welcomes your donations of new and gently-used books, as well as good-condition DVDs, CDs, LPs, video games, and complete jigsaw puzzles and board games. Materials of antiquarian interest are also appreciated. Please note that the Friends cannot accept encyclopedias, outdated reference, text books and travel guides, Time-Life Series and Reader’s Digest books, VHS tapes, magazines, or free publications. Your donated items enable the Friends to raise money for the library at this year’s Holiday Sale (December 3-4), the big annual summer book sale (tentatively scheduled for July 7-11, 2023), and the Friends-operated Little Book Store (open year-round near the circulation desk on the second floor of the library). “Fall Donation Day is timed to give you a jump on clearing out your home before the rush of the holiday season. Plus, the Friends makes it as easy as possible for you to put your items to work for a worthy cause,” says Denise Kaiser, Donation Day coordinator.
