This DJ discovery workshop is designed to introduce youth to a positive outlet of creative musical expression through the art of DJing. This hands on workshop will focus on a specific aspects of the DJing art from… getting familiar with the equipment, to mixing songs, sampling sounds, scratching records, crowd control, and more. All equipment will be provided for youth participants as well as the amazing space the Sister Carmen holds for youth participants to experiment and explore with the tools of the DJ craft. Not only does this workshop teach skills in the art of DJing, but also this workshop teaches community organization, teamwork, music theory, sound engineering, performance, and how to make Djing a viable creative career.
