Description

Artists’ Table is The Watermill Center’s year-round series of gatherings, inviting the public to an intimate presentation by Artist-in-Residence Liz Glynn, followed by a farm-to-table meal by Chef Dina Lombardi on The Center’s scenic campus. All attendees must be fully vaccinated, and present proof of vaccination during check-in. For a full list of COVID Safety Regulations, please click here. Liz Glynn creates sculptures, large-scale installations, and performances using epic historical narratives, cultural artifacts, and monumental architecture to explore the potential for change in the present tense. Her practice functions as a form of materialist philosophy: activating objects through performance, changing materials to trace shifts in cultural value, and embodying the rise and fall of empires through cycles of actions and object production. Her work has been presented at MASS MoCA, North Adams, MA, the New Museum, NYC; the Barbican Centre, London; MoCA, Los Angeles; the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; deCordova Sculpture Park, MA; the Petit Palais, Paris; and Künstlerhaus Halle für Kunst & Medien, Graz, Austria. Solo exhibitions include those at MASS MoCA, North Adams, MA; SculptureCenter, NYC; and LACMA, Los Angeles. Her public art projects include Open House, commissioned by the Public Art Fund, NYC, and Terra Techne, a permanent installation at San Francisco International Airport. Glynn has been featured in The New York Times, Artforum, Vanity Fair, The Los Angeles Times, The New Yorker, New York Magazine, Architectural Digest, Archaeology Magazine, and frieze. Glynn received her BA from Harvard College and her MFA from CalArts. She is represented by Paula Cooper Gallery, NYC and Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects. Dina Lombardi is a beloved private chef living and working on the East End of Long Island. Chef Lombardi started her career working under New York Chefs David Bouley, Nobu Matsuhisa and Gabriel Kreuther. Her cooking is influenced by her work history, an intense nostalgia and fondness for her Nana's cooking, and a focus on health and nutrition as they are connected to the food we eat.
