About the class: This class is designed to provide an orientation to the classic metal shop machinery and equipment. This course will also cover safety procedures and best practices in the metal shop. Over the course of three hours each student receives hands-on instruction in the safe and proper use of the most commonly used machines in a metal shop. What is covered: Cold Saw Horizontal and vertical band sawsDrill pressEnglish wheel and planishing hammerPlate rollerSheet metal shearMultiple grinders and abrasivesPlease Note: Mandatory Safety Equipment: Safety Glasses (Maketory has pairs available at the facility if you do not own any). Closed-toed shoes, full length pants and short sleeves. Pull back hair, remove all jewelry.Location: MaketoryAdvisable but not required: Hearing protectionMinimum Age: 18, or 15 or older if accompanied by an adultIf class is sold out and you have a group interested, please contact us directly to coordinate a new date. We require at least 2 participants to run the course. In the event we do not reach 2 participants we will reach out to reschedule or issue a refund, whichever you prefer. Tickets are nonrefundable (unless class is cancelled) and can not be used for another date.Maketory is a membership based facility. This course also serves as a certification to run the machinery independently at our facility as a member (valid for 60 days after class is taken).
