Description

Our longtime Sierra member and excellent photographer Dave Wilder will give a talk on the importance of lighting in nature photography. Nature photographers love to shoot during the so-called “golden hours,” the hours just after sunrise and just before sunset, when the low sun casts a beautiful golden glow over the landscape. The topic of this talk will be how seeing light can improve your images. David will also discuss the HDR (High Dynamic Range) setting on many digital cameras and answer general question about digital cameras. About David Wilder: David Wilder has been a Sierra Club member on and off for a few decades. He was lucky enough to go to a college that offered a BFA in Photography. A few years in NYC and a return to Ohio kept him in the photography business most of his working life. He had a chance to meet a few luminaries of photography and associate w/ others that kept him focused on the business of photography. Moving to South Carolina forced him to find other means of making a living, but eventually, it was easier to work as a free-lance commercial photographer than work in other industries with uninspiring people. Photography is still his raison d’etre (reason for being). We will meet up at Conestee Nature Preserve 840 Mauldin Rd, Greenville at the large shelter by the parking lot. Class talk begins under the shelter and later the group will go into the preserve for photo practice. The public is welcome at Sierra events. We hope to see you there.
