MEDFORD, MA — A Massachusetts State Police trooper was hospitalized early Thursday after his cruiser was struck during a traffic stop on I-93.
The trooper pulled over an erratic driver near Roosevelt Circle in Medford around 1:20 a.m., state police said. As he was about to get out of his cruiser, it was hit from behind by another driver heading north on I-93, police said.
The trooper sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, where he was treated and released Thursday morning.
The investigation into the driver who hit the cruiser is ongoing. State police said they also arrested two people in the car that was initially stopped, and more information will be available Thursday.
