22 Medford Students, 3 Staffers Positive As Schools Return Remote

MEDFORD, MA — Dozens of people in the Medford Public Schools system tested positive for the coronavirus last week, Superintendent Marice Edouard-Vincent said in a message to families on New Year's Eve. There were 22 positive tests among students and three among staff members. No one was in school during the window of time that would require quarantining due to in-person exposure, Edouard-Vincent said. Medford schools returned from vacation remotely Monday due to an expected post-holiday spike in cases. In-person instruction will begin Jan. 14 for Cohorts A and C. The district plans to test staff and students before they return to in-person learning. Families are asked to return the student COVID-19 consent form to their school principal's office prior to Jan. 14 to allow their child to be tested. Testing will be done through an MPS partnership with Tufts University.
