Description
Textile drive fundraiser on January 9th at Transfer Station!Stop by the Transfer Station on Saturday, January 9 for a textile drive to collect clothing, shoe and stuffed animal donations along with other textile discards.
A Baystate Textiles trailer will be parked in the swap area for residents to donate clean and bagged textile items during Transfer Station hours of operation.
Did you know that annual U.S. textile discards amount to approximately 26 billion pounds of waste, an average of 81 pounds per person? Most discarded textile material in good or torn condition can be donated to charity or recycled. Clothing, shoes, other textiles reused and recycled help reduce greenhouse gases by an equivalent of removing one million cars from highways each year.
Help Medfield divert textiles from landfills by bringing items such as these to the collection on January 9:• Footwear- heels, work boots, cleats, slippers, etc.• Clothing- undergarments, socks, blazers, pajamas, pants, etc.• Textiles- stuffed animals, pillows, draperies, comforters, throw rugs, etc.• Accessories- hats, belts, duffles, ties, pocketbooks, etc.
No mattresses, carpet remnants, couch or lawn furniture cushions please.
All items must be clean and bagged. Please consider using old or new plastic bags vs paper ones which often rip during collection.
